When the 2016 election happened, I successfully stayed off of Twitter and Facebook for over 3 years. But then I decided to try to be an Actual Writer, whatever that means, and was told I should probably have an online presence before starting my MFA.
As much as I hate it sometimes, the effect Twitter has had on building community for (trans) writers like myself is undeniable. The site’s descent into fascism is also undeniable. So here we are.
What I’m envisioning for this space:
Weekly-ish round up of great writing in great literary mags
Updates on my own writing life (very exciting stuff is in the works!)
Occasional thoughts on contemporary literature, art, and more
Mostly, I’m just going to miss being able to scroll from amazing poem to amazing poem. Or finding other Latinx transmascs I wouldn’t have met otherwise. Or discovering journals and presses doing the work because they value art from marginalized voices. I’m going to carve out the space that I want to see on the internet.
I hope you’ll stick around!

A little bit about me: I’m a queer Chicano writer from Texas. My debut poetry chapbook, The Things We Bring with Us, came out with Headmistress Press in 2021. In 2023, my chapbook Last Stop will be out with Defunkt Magazine + Press. I’m currently Porter House Review’s nonfiction editor, a CNF reader for ANMLY, and a memoir reader for Split Lip Magazine. I’m on season 12 of my Degrassi: The Next Generation rewatch and I’m SO MAD at HBO right now. More on my site here
