April! I’m not going to quote that old fascist, but this month has simultaneously been incredible and difficult.
First thing’s first~ I have a chapbook out with Defunkt Magazine! You can buy it here! We sold out of the first run super fast! My mini Texas tour is continuing through April and May. Incredibly grateful for my community for making these events possible.
Yesterday, ANMLY #36 came out, and with it, “it’s a good day to be trans,” a folio of trans joy! I’m so fucking moved by how this turned out. Thank you so much to everyone who sent work. 15 INCREDIBLE contributors are within these digital pages. Please do give it a read.
A little excerpt from my editors note:
Trans writers do not owe anyone our joy, nor our trauma. My hope, though, is that trans readers will walk away from this folio thinking, as the title suggests, “it’s a good day to be trans.” I’m beyond excited to introduce this selection of prose, poetry, and visual art. In this folio, T4T love and change are embraced. New names and genders are revealed and celebrated and danced along with. So much love and light pour out from these digital pages.
Lastly, some extra exciting news… my editor-turned-classmate-turned-bestie Diamond Braxton is launching a small press right here in central Texas: Abode Press.
Abode Press is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit publishing organization based in Central, TX dedicated to uplifting underrepresented voices. Founded by THE Diamond Braxton, our values are founded on intersectionality, anti-racism, anti-colonialism, and empathy.
Don’t you feel at home already? I’m thrilled to announce that I will be serving as Abode’s Senior Poetry Acquisitions Editor! (and maybe perhaps Substack personality? Keep an eye out for that.)
Y’all. These graphics! Our staff is incredible, intersectional, and honestly THE dream team. Website is in progress, but follow us all across socials for updates and more staff announcements!
Damn. It feels good to be a poet.

My current poetry month reads: Gemini Gospel by Bianca Pérez, 808s & Otherworlds by Sean Avery Medlin. I am also patiently waiting for the dear mailperson to deliver my Eileen Myles book that came out today.
POST SCRIPT SPOILER FILLED SUCCESSION CORNER:
Sarah Snook’s performance on “Connor’s Wedding” was so good, it put me in a dead-dad-bad-mood for the rest of the day. Wow. And Connor’s immediate response being “he never loved me”?? OUCH. I spoke too soon when I said karaoke was the most daddy issues episode!
And this week!! Is it underlined or crossed out?? Though my dad died under much different circumstances, I relate to the frustration of not knowing what his last wishes or even opinion of me was. Phew. Scared for the rest of the season and my sanity.

Abode Press sounds so exciting!!
